Microsoft and Turn 10 announced Forza Motorsport 5 at the Xbox Reveal conference yesterday. The latest in Microsoft’s premiere racing series will bring the franchise into the next generation for the first time. Today, we have a full trailer.
The Forza Motorsport racing series has been Microsoft’s answer to Gran Turismo
for quite some time, and it nearly generates the same critical
reception. This latest reveal trailer might not show off the in-game
engine, but the pre-rendered clips are still impressive nonetheless.Racing games showcase a new console’s graphical prowess better than most other genres. Something about shiny cars, dusty environments and fast paced editing just seems to scream next-gen the first time you see it.
Both previous Xbox consoles had a racing game at launch, but this is the first time Microsoft doesn’t have a Project Gotham Racing game to accompany it out of the gate. Lucid Games has teased that one might be available in a few months, but seeing how Forza enjoys a bit more prestige these days, I don’t see Microsoft releasing conflicting racing games during the launch window.
Sad indeed, but Forza Motorsport is still the most exciting
game revealed yesterday. Turn 10 is way up there with Criterion and
Polyphony Digital as one of the premiere racing game companies out there
these days.Keep an eye out for more Forza Motorsport 5 at E3 this June!
